Grandma Letha was my grandmother. I remember when I first met her, she was babysitting me because she worked with my mother at the Nowata Hospital. I went home with her not realizing that at that moment, Letha would change my life forever. She became my grandmother that day after I had fallen and skinned my knee. Through tears, Grandma Letha carried me into the house, bandaged my knee, and kissed it to make it feel better. I asked her that day to be my grandmother and she accepted. She provided comfort, support, and love through the many years we shared as grandmother and granddaughter. I was very close to her son John and considered him to be my uncle. When he departed this world, I was there with my grandmother to celebrate his life, and now that she has departed from this world, I am here to celebrate her memory. She was one of the most amazing women I have had the pleasure of meeting and becoming part of my family. The world will never be the same without her in it. I remember the greatest advice she had ever given me occurred when I was accepted into a doctoral program for nursing. She told me, "If it was easy Moe everyone would do it." I have made that my motto for completing my goals in life and am thankful for all the love, memories, and time she sacrificed to be my grandmother.

Letha was always there for my children, doting on them as their Grandma. She loved them , gave them advice, cried with them and watched them grow up and have babies of their own. She taught the grand kids how to cook and can pickles. When her friend Doris was alive they read books with my youngest Marissa. She remembers the"Grimm's" Fairy tale book was read quite often. She developed a love of books because of Letha and Doris. We will miss Letha but know she's in Heaven with John and her loved ones rejoicing in the arms of the Lord and the Angels.
